So how do you get started again when you’ve had an extended break from work? I’ve found returning to the world of kid’s fashion really difficult – it just didn’t seem relevant during this crisis. But kid’s fashion is an industry like many others under considerable strain – with manufacturers, their employees and independent labels and retailers all feeling the full force of working and living through a world pandemic.
So when I was approached to put together an online event to help promote and cause some buzz around the SS21 collection selling season it sparked both my imagination and enthusiasm! A Kid’s Digital Fashion Week is exactly the proactive reaction required to push out the message that ‘Kid’s Fashion Continues’ despite a Covid affected selling season, and what better than to shout out this message with friends Smudgetikka, Scimparello magazine and Hooligans magazine.

The rendez-vous ‘Kids Digital Fashion Week’
17-21 August & 7-10 September
The world has changed, momentarily at least. Like so many industries the independent kid’s fashion industry is in uncharted territory. Due to the effects of the pandemic – manufacturers, their employees, brands and retailers are all struggling in various ways – from delays in the supply chain to consumers staying away during lockdown.
Ordinarily buyers would be planning their trade show season, from visiting their ‘regulars’ to researching the latest up and coming labels. This season due to Covid 19 neither buyers, nor press can walk the aisles of the shows – meaning action is required to create the usual buzz, and shine a spotlight on this season’s collections from the independent kid’s fashion labels.
The Rendez-Vous is an alliance of leading digital kid’s fashion media platforms: Pirouette, Scimparello, Hooligans and Smudgetikka have joined forces to shout the message that ‘Kid’s Fashion Continues’ to buyers, press and consumers.
…and we’re kicking it off with two Digital Kid’s Fashion Weeks:
- The first in August the week commencing the 17th
- The second in September the week commencing the 7th
The online event will be distributed across the network of The Rendez-Vous media partner’s IG accounts, @therendez_vous and therendez-vous.com website.
Like fashion week there will be allocated time slots featuring never seen before sneak peek images of SS21 collections from participating labels. All the media partners and @therendez-vous will post synchronised IG social media posts across their feeds.
Each day is scheduled with content from the brands, interviews, panel zooms, behind the scenes videos, expert advice and IG LIVES.
