It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

I’ve always loved the quote by Maya Angelou:

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”

And I hope my Frivolous Fridays sometimes do that for people who are having a cloudy sorta day, so I’m always looking for fun, happy ideas!

So when I saw on a random SD instagram post that there was a set of RAINBOW steps in La Mesa

of COURSE I put it on my to do list….seriously, who can resist a rainbow?  Clearly not me!

And of course, I had to try my signature JUMP – which I put on hold during the scary times of the pandemic, but now I’m back to JUMPING FOR JOY!

HERE is my fun little jump!

And we didn’t just take selfies and jump for joy…we also climbed all 450+ of the other stairs in La Mesa.

These stairways were installed many years ago to facilitate foot traffic through the adjacent neighborhoods and it is still a delight to find them and face the challenge of navigating the steep ascents.

Map is HERE  if you want to climb the stairs yourself.

Yep, this happened #2:

Well all that talk about rainbows got me thinking that I might challenge myself to photograph a rainbow.

Since I don’t live in Maui where rainbows are a daily thing, I decided to create my own.

I started with some snack kabobs.  (You should have seen the eye roll when I set these in front of the hubs….hee hee)

(This would be even cuter with 10-20 kabobs but hubby and I can only eat so much….lol…but maybe for my next family get together?)

Yep, this happened #3:

So I spent a few days keeping an eye out for opportunities to photograph a rainbow….

So here’s the goal:  (Have you ever heard of ROY G BIV?   It’s an acronym to help remember the order of the colors in the rainbow)

Red!

Orange

Yellow

Green

Blue

Indigo

Violet

Now that I’m IN the rainbow zone I’m remembering some fun Wedding Day rainbows that I’ve photographed….

And my rainbow obsession and that sweet quote I mentioned earlier (“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”)

is making me think about adding a rainbow pillow to my patio furniture….what do you think?

What colors of the rainbow are you enjoying?
