It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
If you’ve been around me for past Christmases, you KNOW how important the big 78 foot high Christmas tree on the hill above Poway is to my family!
Not only do we look at it every single day in December from our house, I’m honored to call the tree’s mom and dad my friends (I photographed their wedding!)
So every year for 20+ years, we’ve been hiking up the hill each December to enjoy our beloved tree up close and personal.
The tree’s mom and dad, Debbie and Tom, met us under the tree again this year for a couple of photos and some sweet conversation.
How cute is THIS VIDEO?
AND GUESS WHAT?
They were also interviewed by the newspaper again this year and the newspaper published my photos WOOT!
HERE is the online article if you want to read all about the tree’s 32 year history
Yep, this happened #2:
I need to tell you about FFF:
FFF is a term we’ve been using for years – it stands for “Forced Family Fun”
Backstory: Have you ever noticed that some people [insert hubby here] prefer to automatically say ‘no’ to activities?
Like that’s their default answer? [sigh]
I’m the opposite: I’m like a puppy jumping all over the place, wagging my tail and saying ‘yes, YES, yes, yeppo, Yay, Yes, yippee, etc, etc”
So I started insisting on FFF: “Forced Family Fun”
I would put something on the calendar and we would DO it. Not a lot of things, not every day, but just SOMETIMES
and most times everyone had fun even if they didn’t think they would.
Well, fast forward to today – Matt isn’t here and puppy-dog Pam needs someone to play with sometimes – so reinstated FFF.
Hubby was kind enough to let me schedule some activities and after we get started I think he enjoys them as much as I do
(at least I’m pretending that!)
I made a little December Calendar O’ Fun and filled it with holiday goodness. This past weekend we made gingerbread houses!
Well, hubs built a gingerbread house and I made a gingerbread train.
I bought them as ready to assemble kits because let’s be honest, the fun is in the assembly, not baking, whipping and cleaning up…
And here’s a crafty tip from me: As long as you aren’t going to eat the house later (which we never do) go ahead and assemble the walls with a hot glue gun.
Seriously – it saves frosting and your sanity because it attaches perfectly and immediately without waiting for frosting to dry!
Yep, this happened #3:
I’m soaking up holiday cheer all day long!
Not only am I enjoying the nighttime lights but also the daytime decor that I pass on my morning walk.
(I’ve been walking least 5 miles a day – EVERY DAY -since lockdown! Yay me!)
Usually I walk my neighborhood but this week I strolled around Christmas Card Lane in Penasquitos for my morning exercise – and there is lots to see!
And speaking of holiday cheer – I’ve designed a little holiday charity promotion for My Sweet Life Family!
I’ll send you your child’s free Virtual Photo With Santa and all I ask in return is that you to spread the love with
a donation to the Salvation Army as a thank you. 🙂
*I read that the Salvation Army is suffering greatly this year
since us shoppers won’t be out donating to their kettle drive so I want to help them out!
(And fun fact, I’ve ALWAYS secretly wanted to be a Salvation Army bell ringer – so here’s my virtual chance….ring a ding, ring a ding!)
It’s SIMPLE AND FREE!
Just email me a photo of your kiddos and I’ll send you back their photo with Santa!
Ho ho ho from Santa Pam!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
