The second week of January has officially commenced and with gyms closed, finding the motivation to get those New Year’s resolutions on the go might be feeling a little harder than usual. But, as previous lockdowns have proven, getting a good workout in can be just as easy right from the comfort of your own home – it’s just about finding the ones that work best for you. So whether you want to hit the ground running with something pretty challenging or keep things fun with a dance workout, we think we’ve got something you’ll want to check out…

1. Move with Nicole

One of the main struggles with working out at home is the lack of equipment as opposed to being in the gym. Luckily, Barre and Pilates instructor Nicole McPherson teaches us just how to get an effective workout in using our own bodyweight or, things we have in our home. Better yet, her videos can be anything from 10 to 60 minutes so you’ll always find something that works for you.

2. Walking

Obvious but never to be forgotten, the humble walk will always be one of the most effective forms of cardio. We love it as it’s so much easier to motivate yourself to go for a walk than it is to go for a run or anything similar. Plus, it’s low-impact exercise meaning you can go everyday, even multiple times a day if you like. And right now, it’s pretty much the only thing we’re allowed to do to get ourselves out of the house.

3. Chloe Ting

We’ll be surprised if you haven’t already heard of everyone’s favourite lockdown fitness master, Chloe Ting. But don’t count all of her viral videos as something to leave in lockdown one because for 2021 she’s back with all new 28 day challenge that promises amazing results. Her Youtube video workouts are mostly short and intense but definitely doable and soon become addictive.

4. Yoga with Adrienne

If your focus is more on mindfulness and relaxation for the beginning of this year, then we couldn’t recommend Yoga by Adriene’s 30 day challenge more. Suitable for all levels, this programme highlights the benefits of daily practice for your physical, mental and emotional health. Expect improvements in muscle tone, spinal alignment and optimisation of body function.

We think these are a great way to start your day and you’ll be having so much fun you’ll start to forget it’s even a workout.
